A fully-healed tattoo
We've come to the conclusion of our blog about tattooing basics.  Hopefully, we've shared enough tips to benefit both neophytes and long time tattoo enthusiasts.  You can check Part 1 and Part 2 of our post by clicking on the hyperlink.

As mentioned in our previous post, tattoos are healing surface wounds and such such need to be treated with extreme caution and proper care.  You don't want to run the risk of ruining a perfectly great design or worse get your tattoo infected.

Here's a couple of things you need to remember while waiting for your tattoo to heal out.

a tattoo scab up-close
1.  Do not expedite healing by picking at the scabs of your new tattoo
One of the worst mistake you can ever do on a healing tattoo is this.  Like all healing wounds, tattoos get itchy when it's almost healed.  Resist the urge to scratch as you run the risk of "healing out" the ink which can leave an unsightly blank spot on the design causing you to have that area re-done.

2.  Take extra care when showering.  Make sure you don't let your new tattoo get soaked under running water for too long. Soap the area carefully using just your fingertips, rinse quickly and pat them dry rather than rubbing them.

3.   Apply a light smear of ointment on your brand new tattoo until the scab forms.  Once it does, switch to a natural or organic lotion to keep them moisturized.  Avoid those that contain petroleum as they tend to clog the pores and contribute to healing out the ink.  Try Protat Premium After-Care cream with Grape Seed extract, a non-corrosive cream that not only helps in rapidly healing your tattoo but also protects the colours of your tattoo design.

4.  Try to refrain from anything that could hurt your tattoo white it heals.  Wear comfortable clothing that wont rub or scrape your tattoo and wont cause you to sweat hard as sweat contains toxins that can cause your tattoo to get infected.

5.  Avoid excessive sun exposure as sunburn causes tattoos to lose colors or fade in intensity, and it can make fine lines and details turn blurry.

With that last tip, we now conclude our tattooing basics.  Getting inked involves a lifetime of responsibility as you would need to have your tattoo re-done quite a bit so it stays vibrant for long.

The biggest tip though is to think through making the decision to get inked hundreds or even thousands of times.  Make sure you are ready physically and emotionally before taking a plunge as tattoos are permanent.  Sure you can go ahead and have it removed but doing so entails a whole lot of money so think carefully.

Previously, we talked about some of the things you need to know before getting a tattoo.  In this entry, we will talk about the 2nd phase of getting tattooed, the most exciting yet also the most painful part, getting the actual tattoo.

Now, I may be exaggerating about the pain here.  I've talked to some of my friends who had already gotten theirs and they tell me different things about the level of pain.  Remember though that when you get inked, the process actually involves having your skin pricked by needle several times.  Individual pain thresholds vary but here are some of the things you can do to help you get through your first session.

1.  Be still: this is important as any sudden movement on your part can result to permanent mistakes! You don't want to end up with an extra dot or worse an extra line on your design.  If you feel like sneezing or coughing, ask your tattooist to stop right away.

2.  Bring along a bottle of water or juice: you may feel parched or thirsty during the process especially if you're getting a larger tattoo, this will make it easy for you to reach out and drink without asking your tattooist to stop entirely.

listen to music during the procedure
3.  Bring an iPod: listening to your favorite can help you relax and take your mind off the pain.  You may also want to bring a pillow with you in case you're going to get your tattoo in areas that would require you to lie down.  This will also help you be more comfortable and in turn ease the pain a little.

4.  Invite a friend for support: make sure you ask ahead if your tattooist is okay with having people watching, holding your hands or even talking to you.  If they say yes, friends can bring tremendous comfort as just talking to them can divert your attention from the pain.

Check back again tomorrow for the final part of our Tattooing Basics where we will talk about caring for your new tattoo as well as tackle the issue of tattoo infection.

RNB Singer Rianna with her tattoo
Getting a tattoo is proving to be more and more popular this days as a form of self-expression.  While not for everyone, those brave enough to bear the pain of getting inked the first time find themselves wanting to add more right after.

If you feel like you're ready to take the plunge and get your first tattoo, here are some of the things you need to know first before heading to your tattoo artist

No to public swimming
1.  Remember: Tattoos are Healing Surface Wounds

Stay away from public pools, public saunas and bath hubs as the healing skin is more prone to infection after the procedure.  These places provide an easy breeding ground to bacteria that could enter your skin through your tattoo wound and lead to high-risk infections.  Prolonged soaking can also cause the scab to come off too soon hurting your new tattoo.

Rest, relax and eat healthy
2.  Rest, Relax and Eat healthy a day before getting your tattoo.

Try to get a good night's sleep by getting to bed early the night before the procedure.  On the day of your tattoo appointment, make sure you also eat a healthy meal an hour or two before heading to the tattoo shop.  This ensures that your body is able to cope with the stress in case the procedure gets too painful.

3.  Refrain from drinking alcohol or taking medicine the day before your tattoo appointment.

Both Alcohol and medicine thins the blood making you bleed profusely.

4.  Ask a friend to accompany you

You may become disoriented or light-headed after the tattoo process so it would help if you are with a friend so they can assist you in getting up and drive you home after just in case you are unable to do so yourself.

The most important thing you should do is to talk to your tattoo artist about any medical conditions and known allergies.  This way, they can take precautionary measures and ensure that the medical equipment and products they might use on you is safe.

Livshop carry a wide range of tattoo products and equipment in addition to our already impressive range of medical, surgical, dental, aged-care and hair and beauty supplies.  Our pre-treatment and after care creams, ointments and sprays are manufactured only by the best and trusted names in the market today.

The three most popular medical disposable gloves available in the market today are the Latex, Vinyl and Nitrile gloves.  Though common, a lot of people are still unable to tell the difference of one type to the other.

For today's blog, we will talk about the the differences of each gloves while taking into consideration the main characteristics to help you choose the right type of disposable gloves to use.

An important note to remember though, disposable gloves are for one-time and one time use only.  Avoid re-using them as doing so could lead to serious infections.
The 3 Important Characteristics to Choose the Right Medical Gloves

1. Level of Protection: The whole reason why we wear gloves is for protection. Each disposable gloves offer protection for specific scenarios.  Always make an informed decision before buying and using one.

2. Comfort & Fit: Disposable gloves should fit perfectly and should be easy to put on.  Most disposable gloves come in either powder-free or low-powder variety to improve ease of use.

3. Cost: Disposable gloves differ in pricing depending on brand and quality.

The 3 Types of Medical Disposable Gloves

1.  Latex gloves:  perhaps the most popular choice as it is made from natural rubber providing excellent flexibility, comfort and fit.  Latex gloves also offer excellent dexterity, durability and tactile sensitivity.

2.  Vinyl gloves: made from synthetic thermoplastic polymers, Vinyl gloves are high value, cheap, and resistant to oil and fat.  This type of disposable glove is also skin-friendly as it does not pose a high-level of allergenic reactions as opposed to Latex gloves.  These gloves only offer standard barrier protection and should NOT be used in high risk environments.

3.  Nitrile gloves:  made from non latex synthetic chemical resistant material. These gloves are perfect for nurses and doctors because it works great in harsh and sensitive environment. Nitrile gloves offer up to 4x protection than latex gloves and have zero threat of latex allergy. They have excellent durability, strength and are good against tearing and puncturing.

We've been in the market for two years now, and frankly things haven't really move the way we envisioned them to years ago.  The online market is a competitive environment and suffice is it to say that we haven't really found our footing yet.

Days ago we've blogged about the hardships we've been through trying to takeoff.  The endless nights we spent trying to keep our spirits afloat despite numerous setbacks and the long hours we spent toiling just so we can finally show some semblance of achievement.

It has been 2 years since we first started our online shop, 2 years and how time flies!  We can still remember the countless hours we spent brainstorming for ideas, grueling hours of uploading products, product descriptions and pricing and still more hours spent coding and tweaking our website engine.  We can safely say we've come a long way.

Just as we were on our way to take off, the Livshop team hit a roadblock.  Our then Digital Marketer, and overall in-charge of the website left with nary a word.  We had no choice but to put the project on hold...just when we were nearly approaching completion.

Thankfully, it didn't take too long before the position got filled and this time we were very fortunate that the new Digital Marketer, Arnel Bautista has passion for both online marketing and social networking.  He whipped everyone back into shape and in a few days got the old website online again.

Our relative newcomers, Don Garcia and Mac Arce rose up to the challenge and embraced the assignment with so much passion and dedication.  Both of them worked on the project with the enthusiasm and participation worthy of recognition.  They poured so much effort into seeing Livshop soar once more and finally all their hard work will soon be all worth it.

Now, we are approaching a brand-new milestone.  Livshop is undergoing a design overhaul that will reflect both our identity and our passion to bring to our consumers our motto: FAST.EASY.RELIABLE service.  Join us in the next few days as we complete the BIG REVEAL!
