A fully-healed tattoo
We've come to the conclusion of our blog about tattooing basics.  Hopefully, we've shared enough tips to benefit both neophytes and long time tattoo enthusiasts.  You can check Part 1 and Part 2 of our post by clicking on the hyperlink.

As mentioned in our previous post, tattoos are healing surface wounds and such such need to be treated with extreme caution and proper care.  You don't want to run the risk of ruining a perfectly great design or worse get your tattoo infected.

Here's a couple of things you need to remember while waiting for your tattoo to heal out.

1.  Do not expedite healing by picking at the scabs of your new tattoo
One of the worst mistake you can ever do on a healing tattoo is this.  Like all healing wounds, tattoos get itchy when it's almost healed.  Resist the urge to scratch as you run the risk of "healing out" the ink which can leave an unsightly blank spot on the design causing you to have that area re-done.

2.  Take extra care when showering.  Make sure you don't let your new tattoo get soaked under running water for too long. Soap the area carefully using just your fingertips, rinse quickly and pat them dry rather than rubbing them.

3.   Apply a light smear of ointment on your brand new tattoo until the scab forms.  Once it does, switch to a natural or organic lotion to keep them moisturized.  Avoid those that contain petroleum as they tend to clog the pores and contribute to healing out the ink.  Try Protat Premium After-Care cream with Grape Seed extract, a non-corrosive cream that not only helps in rapidly healing your tattoo but also protects the colours of your tattoo design.

4.  Try to refrain from anything that could hurt your tattoo white it heals.  Wear comfortable clothing that wont rub or scrape your tattoo and wont cause you to sweat hard as sweat contains toxins that can cause your tattoo to get infected.

5.  Avoid excessive sun exposure as sunburn causes tattoos to lose colors or fade in intensity, and it can make fine lines and details turn blurry.

With that last tip, we now conclude our tattooing basics.  Getting inked involves a lifetime of responsibility as you would need to have your tattoo re-done quite a bit so it stays vibrant for long.

The biggest tip though is to think through making the decision to get inked hundreds or even thousands of times.  Make sure you are ready physically and emotionally before taking a plunge as tattoos are permanent.  Sure you can go ahead and have it removed but doing so entails a whole lot of money so think carefully.
