Burns are common and may happen anytime and anywhere.  How do we treat a burn? How much care does it require?  Well, let me tell you that there are different degrees of burns, but the most common in the business industry is the chemical burn.

Chemical burn may have various causes and the burn itself may either be mild or severe.  But how do we apply first aid with this kind of injury?  First and foremost is to stay calm before taking any further actions.  Following are the steps on how to apply first aid on chemical burn:
  1. Keep your self away from the place, and if it’s dangerous, don’t let anyone enter the location.
  2. If there’s still chemicals on the affected area, brush off the remnants away from you, be gentle and do it in one direction.
  3. After brushing off the chemicals left on skin, flush your skin with cool running water for 15-45 minutes until the pain gradually fades.
  4. If you are wearing accessories when you acquired the injury, remove them for there may be harmful substances left.
  5. Before wrapping with burn dressings, make sure to dry the skin around the affected area to prevent the burn from bacteria.
  6. Ask someone’s help in wrapping with burn dressings, wrapping should be quite fast. Prolonged exposure of the affected area may cause infection.
  7. Right after wrapping the affected area, seek professional help.
Your burn dressings should be sterile and non-adherent.  Ideally, it should be impregnated with a water soluble gel which cools the affected area, relieving the burn while it minimizes burn creep.  One more thing, your dressings should be with antimicrobial action and a cooling relief for up to two hours, to lessen the burning sensation until you obtain professional help.

Applying first aid to burns is no easy.  Always seek professional help right after applying first aid, for they know the best kind of treatment your injury needs.  Bear in mind that keeping your self calm is a great help in applying the first aid treatment.

Did you know that combing your hair holds more benefits than what we usually know? Combing hair is one form of straightening and having the strands finer.  Aside from helping you straighten your hair, it gives you a relaxing feeling as it massages your scalp.  Combing prevents your hair from tangles and frizz.  One more thing is that when you regularly comb your hair, it produces natural oil which makes your hair shinier and your scalp healthier.

Combs are commonly made of plastic so it will be gentle on scalp.  Combing relieves stress when you’re tired.  It also helps in blood circulation at the top of the head.  Other people does this as often as possible as they want their hair to grow faster.  And to add, combing hair is usually done at night before bedtime of those having trouble sleeping.

Why use bare hands when there’s gloves?  Protect your hands from chemicals that may harm your skin. Skin disease starts with irritation and when not treated well turns into infection.  Like virus, it easily spreads through other parts of the skin.  Why would you let your skin be damaged by chemicals by being careless? It’s now time for you to be more cautious, start taking care of your skin or you’ll regret that you didn't.

Powder free latex gloves provide utmost protection possible for your skin.  It has a superior control with natural latex formulation that reduces skin irritation for powder sensitive users.  It is also important that your gloves allow a firm and safe grip while in use to avoid slipping instruments from your hands.  Also, gloves should have good resistance and comfort along with good tactile sensitivity. Lastly, your hand gloves should be odor free to make sure that you don’t inhale the chemicals.

There are 2 techniques in conducting color service:  Paper and Foil.  Waxed papers are seldom used now a days, since everybody’s in a rush and impatient to sit for long hours waiting for the hair highlights to take effect.  Hair foils took the lead in the process of color service.

Foil is an aluminum which is considered conductor as it has high electron mobility which easily conducts heat.  Most salons now a days, frequently use hair foils to apply heat to speed the process of color service.  The process of color service requires heat for the highlights to immediately take effect.  There are hair foils that are perfectly made to fit all salon uses and packaged in a dispenser box with cutting blade for ease of use.

Why wait long hours for the highlights to take effect when you can find hair foils that perfectly fits  your salon needs? There's an all-purpose aluminum foil especially made for you and your salon needs.

Cold therapy produces vasoconstriction, which slows circulation reducing inflammation, muscle spasm, and pain.
Superficial cold is available in many forms, including a variety of commercial cold packs, ice cubes, iced towels/compresses, and forms of hydrotherapy. The duration of cold therapy is less than heat therapy; usually less than 15 minutes. The effect of cold is known to last longer than heat.
Cold or ice should never be applied directly to the skin. A barrier, such as a towel, should be placed between the cold agent and the skin's surface to prevent skin and nerve damage. Punctured commercial cold packs should be immediately discarded, as the chemical agent/gel will burn skin.[1]
With Livshop’s cold pack say goodbye to muscle spasm, inflammation, and pain.  This nylon-made cold pack generates heat or cold by the action of chemicals within the pack instantly.

Money spent should be worth spending.  Have you ever had your nails polished but lasted for just an hour or two? Is it really worth the pay? There are a lot of things to consider when choosing the best nail polish to apply.  Having the guts to display your perfectly polished nails, roots from the right colour that matches your skin tone. Here are some pointers to consider in choosing the right color to perfectly match your skin tone.

Light Shades for Fair Skin
Having a pale skin tone is an advantage for most ladies. They have a wide range of colours to choose from.  Some of the colour choices are red and light shades of both purple and pink.  Apparently, there are also shades that fair-skinned ladies should refrain from wearing.  Among the colours to avoid are yellow, gold, and dark shades of both blue and green.

Vibrant Shades for Medium Skin Tone
Vibrant shades will perfectly match the medium-skinned ladies.  This time, with a touch of metallic side.  Colours include the bright shades of orange, pink, and blue. Silver will indeed be perfect for the metallic side.  To make your tone appear tanner is the very reason underlying the purpose.  Of course, there are still colours to avoid like red, dark shades of purple, and navy blue.

Shades for Tan Skin Tones

Most colours will fit those ladies carrying a tan skin tone. For your tan skin to standout, light shades of purple, pink and blue are suggested.  More of these are the bright shades of both blue and pink.  It also looks good with the shades of light brown and chocolate brown.  Gold would be the color to avoid, for it blends with your skin tone too much.  It will most likely look dull and your hands might look like you don’t have nails at all.

Colours that Match Dark Skin tones

Fairly dark nail polishes those of maroons, dark greens, and reds will surely fit those very dark-skinned ladies.  A not-so-dark chocolate brown will also look great.  On the contrary, refrain from the use of very bright or too light colours but, you may choose gold when possible.  The shades of white, silver and orange, to name some of those colours to avoid if you have very dark skin.

Choosing the best nail polish is no difficult at all.  You just have to explore and play with those colours to find the perfect match for you.  Just make sure that you consider your skin tone before applying your choice of colour. The very purpose underlying these pointers to consider is to help you in choosing the perfect colour that looks best on you. As you apply nail polish, you may also mix and match colours to make it more outstanding and artistic.

A deadly version of an intestinal germ has spread through sub-Saharan Africa, helped by genetic mutation and diseases such as HIV that weaken the immune system and expose the body to infection.
The finding comes in a genetic comparison of variants of Salmonella Typhimurium, one of the Salmonella family of stomach bugs.

In a new study published by the journal, Nature Genetics, researchers say a new form of the germ emerged in the southeast of the continent 52 years ago, followed by a second wave, which came out of central Africa 17 years later.

The variant is the cause of an enigmatic disease called invasive non-typhoidal salmonella, which affects Africa far more than other continents and is suspected to be transmitted from human to human and kills between 22 and 45 per cent of those it infects.

Outside Africa, Salmonella without this variant tend to cause acute diarrhoea but the death rate is less than one per cent.

Needle-less vaccine technology

Vaccines given with a painless skin patch rather than needles are a step closer after Australian innovators secured a deal with international vaccine manufacturer, Merck.

The Nanopatch, developed by University of Queensland Professor Mark Kendall, uses 100 times less vaccine than a syringe and is smaller than a postage stamp.

The technology is being commercialised by an investor-backed company, Vaxxas, but the partnership with Merck has injected extra research funds and potentially opened up a suite of vaccines to eventually be used with the patch.

Prof Kendall says this is an essential step for Vaxxas because now there is partnership with one of the world's largest vaccine manufacturers.

He says the deal validated the development of the Nanopatch, which was selected by Merck from a field of about 40 other international technologies.
